Our Objectives

At Spring Point Project, we will:

• Establish proper facilities and raise designated pathogen-free (DPF) medical grade pigs with genetics for high islet cell yield to be used for clinical islet transplantation trials.


• Supply donor DPF animals to be used in clinical trials.


• Provide resources to assure that porcine islet cell transplants are safe for humans.


• Support studies aimed to improve our source pigs, including the genetic base underlying high islet cell yield.


• Establish facilities and raise DPF pigs to supply anticipated demand for islet transplantation upon approval as a therapy for diabetes
